Are You Bloody Kidding Me?
So, I am sitting here wondering what to talk about, and browsing through a number of internet news sites. I stumble upon this article from AFP on Yahoo!News... It is, in essence saying that there is a Judge in the State of Georgia that is saying that President Barak Obama MUST appear in court to answer to another "Birther Bigot" who can't believe the overwhelming evidence that the President is indeed a US Citizen.
In trying to understand the conditions that have caused our President, Barack Obama, to face this seemingly never ending string of idiotic cases surrounding his citizenship. I did some research... and this is all bending to the ridiculous belief that the President was born in... Indonesia, I think is their claim. I will address his actual standing later, but for now let's continue to to travel this schizophrenic road that the Republicans in this country are on.
First, President Obama's mother was an American Citizen. At the time of his birth, she was married to Barack's father.. who was not an American Citizen (now, there is some question as to whether or not they were legally married in the eyes of the U.S. government, but his mother's citizenship status is not in question. If that is indeed true, then according to "Title 8 U.S.C. § 1409 paragraph (c) provides that children born abroad after December 24, 1952 to unmarried American mothers are U.S. citizens, as long as the mother has lived in the U.S. for a continuous period of at least one year at any time prior to the birth." That should be enough right there to prove that he is indeed a natural born citizen of the United States. This should be the end of the story.
Let's now take a look at the fact that the President was born in Hawaii, and while I know this will come as quite a surprise to Republicans and particularly the racist members of the party from Georgia, Hawaii is a US State. I know that news travels slow in Georgia, but Hawaii earned it's statehood on August 21, 1959! Time to catch up, there, Georgia Depty Chief Judge Harvey Redneck.. uh, I mean... Michael Malihi (that is a foreign sounding last name, maybe while Barack is there, they can ask about his citizenship status.. just a thought)! Again, this should all have put this to rest, but no! Even though the President (A former member of the United States Sentate {a body that I am sure would want to make sure that it's membership didn't contain any foreign nationals, a Democratic Nominee for the United States of America {I am just guessing here, that there are a few constitutional lawyers that work for the Democratic Party? Yah? I thought so!}, and the sitting President of this country for the past 3 years)has repeatedly countered all of the arguments, including providing his official State of Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth (found here:).
Why wont this go away? Why? Because its the Republican Party. The party of Bigots, the party of racists, the party of ignorance, simply cannot abide by the fact that our President is not white! That is the reality. I would actually have much more... no, on second thought... I was about to say that I would respect their position more if they would just say that... but you know what? I wouldn't! The time has long since past when we should coddle and pacify the fanatical racist who inhabits in the comforting confines of the Republican Party. Nor should we take seriously a party that appeals to these sorts of people! The article went on to quote a man that said that if the Obama Laywers fight this, it just proves that he has something to hide. Fact of the matter is, and Republicans hate facts, it is an exceedingly rare (and one could argue that it almost NEVER happens) that a sitting US President be compelled to appear in court.
The Obstructionist Right, the Party of Just Say 'NO!', is trying once again to divert our attention from the mess they left this country in. The mess they left to this President to fix. The mess they made, that they now blame Obama for. The mess they claim can only be fixed by bringing America back to the policies of George Bush. The same policies that have almost destroyed our country's economy and the world's. ARE YOU BLOODY KIDDING ME?!?
